Are your pets fighting like cats and dogs? Has your home turned into a zoo? Animal communication can help bring peace and harmony back into your household!
As an animal communicator, I frequently encounter pet parents who feel lost when their beloved fur babies arenโt getting along. Many say, โI just donโt understand. They used to play and cuddle together, but now they have to be kept apart!โ Introducing a new pet can be challenging, but what can you do when your existing pets start fighting? An in-depth dialogue with your pets through an animal communication session allows them to express whatโs troubling them and whatโs needed to restore harmonyโstraight from their own perspective.
Common Causes of Pet Conflict
The reasons pets fight are often straightforward. Territorial issues can arise when one pet has claimed a specific spot in the home, and the other begins to encroach on it. Physical discomfort, such as pain, may also manifest as biting, scratching, barking, or hissing. However, conflicts can also stem from stress within the home. When there is tension, pets may direct it toward one another as a release.
In my own home, my two cats became aggressive with each other while staring out the window at a neighbourhood cat roaming the yard. Unable to physically confront the intruding cat, they turned their aggression on each other.
But what happens when the cause of the aggression isnโt as obvious? In an animal communication session, the communicator will ask your pets whatโs bothering them in generalโwhether itโs related to the home, their humans, other pets, or even their physical well-being. Animals often hide pain, but the other animals in the home may sense it. To protect themselves, they might show defensive aggression, leading to a cycle of conflict.
Understanding Pet Perspectives
Sometimes, animals express concerns about behaviours or personality traits in their pet siblings that you may not notice. For instance, I once worked with a herd of horses where a younger horse had started acting aggressively toward the older leader. After communicating with both, we learned that the older horse was developing arthritis and had agreed that the younger one would take over leadership duties part-time. However, the younger horse was trying to take over too quickly, leading to tension in the herd. Through communication and energy work (such as Reiki), harmony was restored.
Mirroring Human Emotions
Pets often mirror the emotional state of their humans. In many readings, we uncover that pet conflicts coincide with stress or tension in the family. Pet parents frequently mention that theyโre feeling stressed, and this emotional strain is reflected in their petsโ behaviour. When we check in with our own emotions and recognize how they surface in our daily lives, we often resolve conflicts between our pets. If weโre happy, theyโre happy!

Tools for Resolving Conflict
One of my preferred tools for resolving pet conflict is flower essences. These work directly with the nervous system and emotions, helping to balance interactions between animals that arenโt getting along. In addition to flower essences, calming products such as diffusers for dogs and cats can supplement training methods aimed at resetting how pets view and interact with each other.
Tellington Touch (TTouch) is another effective method. This non-invasive, respectful training technique recalibrates your petโs nervous system and behaviour. Rearranging your homeโs space to clarify boundaries can also help in some cases.
Keeping Pets Together
In cases of conflict, many families sadly end up rehoming one of their pets. However, if we give our pets a voiceโallowing them to share whatโs bothering them and what can be done to helpโmany more pet families can stay together where they belong.
